The disgraced former Arkansas football coach spoke publicly for the first time since his firing last April. He has now, it seems, seen the errors of his ways. Hire your mistress, some 20 years younger, crash your motorcycle with her on the back, lie about her presence, etc., costing you a $million+ annual salary and causing not a little trouble with your wife…probably not the best course of action.
“How could I put what we had in jeopardy?,” Petrino asked rhetorically. “This is what I wake early every morning thinking about. Why? I just don’t understand how I could do it. You put energy into the people who love you, that count on you.”
To be honest, I CAN understand how he can do it. I also understand how he could not have to do it.
He could have taken an inventory of his life. He could have made a decision – the decision – not to jeopardize all that he had come to cherish. – JDW
