Do The Deed

I was watching Game of Thrones a few weeks back. One part that struck me was the Stark family’s proclamation that the man who sentences another man to death must do the deed.

Lord Stark then beheads a man for desertion. He does it himself after he makes the decision to do so. He gets his hands dirty. He feels the blood between his fingers.

Oh, how I would long for this kind of justice. I watched that show, and many of the Medieval components were fittingly primitive, but certain things seemed more logical than how we do things now.

Would George Bush have declared war on Iraq so quickly if he had to charge with his troops on the front lines? Would he have gotten the Senate’s approval if they had to go with him? Don’t even consider your opinion of the Iraq war. Just think of that. I’d bet dollars to donuts Dubya or Barack would be nowhere near a war if they had to fight in it.

But if either of them were man enough to do it it’d probably be the black guy. I get the idea Obama can thug yo.

It’s more logical to me that a dictator, king, or president should have to fight with his men at least in some way. How could you ever understand the bill you’re asking your youth to pay if you’ve never been to the battlefield?

It’s just like the Occupy protesters to me. They haven’t worked hard enough to get to get to the top 1%, they haven’t paid the socialized taxes they’re suggesting, and they’ve never seen or done what it takes to get into a position to be possibly corrupted. Yes, a lot of people in power are horrible people, but if you gave all their money to these dipshits crapping in Glad bags they would probably become the exact same assholes.

I’m not saying anyone should be demanded to do these things without question, but I think all too often we forgive a basic failure to pursue even a remote understanding. Many politicians or radical activists have no idea about what they’re trying to push other people into doing.
